Well, thanks for coming by and visiting my site. Since this is a relatively new site, I thought I would provide an entry on a question many are rightly so curious about.
"Why does it take time to produce the pictures to see?"
The process of creating a picture with impact has many important steps before final presentation.
Typically photoshoots involve from between hundreds up to thousands of photos being taken for a single event. Because the photographer approaches the images through a photojournalistic approach (photographing moments as they happen) they need to act quick and so usually each moment commonly involves more than one shot to make sure the picture is correctly exposed, composed, desired focused is achieved, the appropriate mood is reflected and of course, no one is blinking. ^_^
After the photoshoot, the photographer downloads these image files into the computer. Because mistakes can be made by the photographer with regards to the mentioned elements, I typically take pictures in the RAW mode of the camera. The RAW mode acts like a negative would to film camera. This allows me to adjust the picture on the computer AFTER I've taken the picture incase I need to make minor adjustments on the picture that I may have missed while rushing to get the perfect shot. These RAW files tend to be very large files. I believe they are around 1-3 MB each. With a 512RAM computer + 1-3MB picture + hundreds of these pictures= a LONG time to download pictures.
Are you still with me?
So finally the pictures are downloaded. Well, you may think, just get those puppies out on the net now! Seems simple enough but not quite.
RAW files ( as far as my knowledge informs me) is not compatible with the internet. Due to this fact all of these files need to be converted to files that you may recognize called JPEGS. But I'm skipping ahead.
Before the RAW files are converted into JPEGS, as mentioned before they need to be adjusted to provide the best visual impact for each shot. Oh, but let me take one more step back. Before even all this occurs, the photographer typically goes through every shot (whether hundreds or thousands) from the event picking the best images for each picture taken.
The pictures that are then selected in my case are all adjusted to make the final OOMPH visual impact. Whether it's boosting up the constrast, erasing ugly poles in the background, determining what background lighting would be best to enhance the mood of the image, whether image should be in black and white, choosing from the millions of combinations of b/w images, color, choosing from the millions of color combinations that the image can have, sharpness, etc. I really care for each image and so with many of my favorites, I like to adjust each by hand to create unique and custom effects for each picture instead of plastering each image with black and white.
Many misunderstood the concept that a better camera means amazing images. Though this is true to an extent, the power of touching up images creates a stronger visual message. (I will try and remember to put a picture here of some before and after samples). And yes at times, the images straight from the camera can have incredible color, contrast but just by maybe changing it from for example color to black and white, the entire mood of the image has been changed (note to self to insert image here).
When all of the images have been touched up they are all then converted into JPEG images. Again, because of the large sizes of the RAW files, these conversions typically can take hours to complete. Unless of course, someone wants to buy me a 2GB RAM computer *hint*hint* hehehe!!
That computer would speed things up!
Once all the files have been converted into JPEGS a select few are chosen to be placed on display for the internet. As long as there are no concerns on images being displayed I will post some up on my website. This would include resizing each image to a smaller size as the website allows and then placing my watermark logo on each image (for copyright issues).
That's just the jist of what I do. I wish I can be doing this all the time during all my available time. But because this is a hobby of mine, I have to consider my regular , bongsa time, personal bible study, family time, friend time, work schedule, my personal sanity time to unwind, eating, sleeping, and basic bathroom functions hehe into my schedule. In between I am always looking forward to making the best pictures of all the beautiful images I take with all the fabulous models I have been doing the shoots with. Thanks for reading!! If you read to the end here, man big PAT on the back for you! Alrighty then!
